WHAT IF MONEY WASN'T AN ISSUE?

Updated: Feb 24, 2021

I've been posed this question a lot since mid-December. Sometimes from job applications, sometimes friends, occasionally on dating apps (great question to include btw), and sometimes by my own subconscious while staring at the ceiling when I'm not sure where to direct myself next. It's a difficult question to wrap our brains around because 90% of us believe we HAVE to make money to be happy, or at least survive.

I used to think this way - and then Covid came for round 2 (or is it 3 now) and I knew there wasn't much financial hope for anyone in arts, culture and entertainment for another year.

With the universe removing financial generation from my grasp, it meant I was free to do whatever I wanted. I no longer stressed about how much I was making since it didn't really matter anymore. The next big question was, what do I WANT to do.

"Obviously," I thought to myself, "I just want to make art happen. Doesn't matter if I coordinate, produce, fundraise, art direct, perform, or all of the above. I just want to be a part of making really good art, design, innovation, experience and creativity HAPPEN"...

...And 10 days later I was hired as the Business Development Officer for an up and coming visual/performance/technical artist @Jonathan_apelbaum_ for his new art association @AnalogDreamBerlin. Literally a dream job I've been chasing for YEARS.

If you've got a dream that you've always wanted to chase, and there was always something blocking you (money, family, friends, lovers, time, location, time, etc.) that you allowed to excuse yourself from chasing your heart's greatest dream, what is stopping you now?

- We're isolated at home with limited distractions.

- Everything you ever wanted to learn and create you can build and access online.

- If you're in the developed world you're probably financially supported by government aid.

- You have endless time on your side that we all complain about not having enough of.

So I pose it to you - what do you want to do now that money, time, location, education, and access is no longer the issue?
